About The Event

Forecasting The New Normal is a 30-hour Hackathon that revolves around emerging trends and mass changes in consumer behaviour, markets, and the environment occurring on an international and global scale in light of COVID19. This challenge is an opportunity for students to develop their own innovative ideas for life on and off-campus and to rethink and redefine the current norms and modes of doing things that inform and guide our lives.

The Challenge:

Identify a problem that has emerged or worsened due to the COVID 19 pandemic and hustle to find a solution to this challenge.

Design and submit an idea that they design and develop that could be implemented to make a positive difference in people’s lives as it relates to the problem they identified.


• Changing urban landscapes due to migration •  Rethinking common areas on campuses (Classrooms, Cafeterias, libraries, etc.)  • Food security & sustainability• COVID Testing on campus • Student Housing • Large events (sporting events, concerts, Splash, protests, etc.) • New traditions and celebrations • Social life and relationships (on and off-campus) • Consumer trends and e-commerce • Technology and Communications (zoom, social media, etc.) • Waste Reduction • Other
